Terms of Service

• StanceSplit is a free service that lets you take stances on debate topics and view comparison statistics.
• We do not currently offer paid features or user accounts.
• You agree to use the Service honestly and without trying to manipulate, scrape, or break it.
• You may share your individual stance results, but you may not present them as anything other than your personal opinion. Do not misrepresent shared content as official statistics, proof, or third-party endorsements.
• StanceSplit owns its content, design, branding, and technology.
• The Service is provided "as is." Statistics shown are user-submitted opinions, not scientific polling.

StanceSplit is a web service that lets visitors take public stances on debate topics and view aggregated comparison statistics. The Service is currently provided free of charge and without user accounts. We may add paid features, accounts, or other functionality in the future. We will update these Terms before doing so.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly permit use of the Service by anyone under 16.

You agree to use the Service only in ways that are lawful, honest, and consistent with these Terms. In particular, you agree not to:

• Use any automated means, including bots, scripts, or scrapers, to access, vote, or otherwise interact with the Service.
• Attempt to vote multiple times on the same topic, manipulate vote counts, or otherwise skew the comparison statistics shown to other users.
• Attempt to bypass technical protections, access private APIs, extract non-public data, or otherwise circumvent the security or access controls of the Service.
• Scrape, harvest, frame, embed, mirror, or copy any part of the Service or its content without our prior written permission, including but not limited to automated collection of votes, statistics, topics, demographics, or other data from the Service, except as expressly permitted in the Sharing section below.
• Attempt to identify, deanonymize, or otherwise determine the real-world identity of other users.
• Disrupt, attack, probe, or otherwise interfere with the security or operation of the Service, including by transmitting malicious code, performing denial-of-service attacks, or attempting unauthorized access.
• Use the Service or any data, results, or content derived from it in any manipulative, misleading, deceptive, or illegal activity.
• Use the Service in any manner not expressly permitted by these Terms or by the Service's intended functionality.

We may, at our sole discretion and without notice, suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in suspicious or fraudulent activity, or where required by law.

The Service includes a "Share" function that allows you to share your individual stance on a topic and the comparison statistics displayed to you at that moment. You may share these results with others, but only as a representation of your personal opinion at that point in time.

You agree that you will not:

• Frame shared content, screenshots, links, or any data derived from the Service as official polling results, scientific findings, third-party endorsements, certified statistics, proof of public opinion, or as substantiating any claim other than your own individual vote.
• Use shared content in commercial, political, journalistic, advertising, or any other context that suggests authority or endorsement by StanceSplit, or that presents the data as representative beyond your individual vote.
• Modify, edit, or misrepresent the content of shared results.
• Use the Service's sharing features or shared content in a misleading manner, or in a way that falsely represents StanceSplit statistics as scientific, representative, certified, or endorsed findings.

Any other use of shared content, results, statistics, or screenshots requires our prior written permission.

The Service does not currently accept user-submitted topics, comments, free text, names, images, or other user-generated content. The only input you provide is your stance, PRO or ANTI, on topics we publish, and optional demographic answers.

If we introduce features in the future that allow user-submitted content, we will update these Terms before doing so.

All content provided by the Service, including but not limited to topic statements, topic ordering and ranking systems, statistics, datasets, analytical insights, derived data, the StanceSplit name, the StanceSplit logo, the visual design, the tagline, the source code, and all related materials, is owned by StanceSplit and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.

You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose. This license does not grant you any ownership rights and does not permit you to copy, distribute, sublicense, or create derivative works of any part of the Service, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or by the Service's intended sharing functionality.

The Service is not released under any open-source or Creative Commons license. All rights are reserved.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy at /privacy, which describes what data we collect, how we use it, and the limited circumstances under which de-identified opinion datasets may be used or licensed. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

StanceSplit publishes topic statements covering a wide range of subjects, including topics that may be controversial, politically charged, sensitive, or contested. The presence of a topic on StanceSplit does not indicate that StanceSplit endorses, supports, opposes, or takes any position on the subject matter of that topic. Topics are presented solely for the purpose of collecting and comparing user opinions.

StanceSplit displays comparison statistics derived from votes submitted by users of the Service. These statistics:

• Reflect the opinions of self-selecting visitors to StanceSplit, not a representative or scientifically sampled population.
• Are not produced according to scientific, academic, or professional polling methodology.
• May be affected by who has chosen to use the Service, the order in which topics are presented, and other factors not controlled for in scientific surveys.
• Should not be relied upon as authoritative evidence of public opinion, scientific findings, or any factual claim about a group, population, country, or demographic.

You agree not to treat StanceSplit statistics as authoritative polling, and not to present them as such to others.

We may, in the future, introduce additional features including but not limited to:

• User accounts, including via third-party sign-in providers such as Google or TikTok, or via email-based sign-up.
• Paid features, subscriptions, or commercial offerings.
• Additional sharing, embedding, or syndication options.
• Other product changes.

Any such additions will be reflected in updated Terms and, where applicable, in an updated Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Service after such updates will indicate acceptance.

We provide the Service on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or available at all times. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, STANCESPLIT MAKES NO WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; THAT THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE; OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STANCESPLIT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR ANY OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE, THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT WILL STANCESPLIT'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) ONE EURO OR (B) ANY AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO STANCESPLIT IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including non-waivable consumer rights under Spanish or European Union law.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StanceSplit and its operators against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your misrepresentation of shared content or statistics, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, including for:

• Violation of these Terms.
• Suspicious or fraudulent activity, including suspected automated voting, vote manipulation, scraping, or attempted reverse-engineering.
• Compliance with legal obligations or requests from competent authorities.
• Security, abuse-prevention, or operational reasons.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law, will continue to apply after termination.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the Service. Continued use of the Service after such changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Spain.

Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you may have as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that most closely matches the intent of the original.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StanceSplit regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements, communications, or understandings.
